RESIDENTS can take a trip to the French Riviera without even leaving Droitwich when Dirty Rotten Scoundrels comes to the Norbury Theatre.
The cheeky musical comedy which is full of lively characters and shock plot twists takes place in the south of France and centres around suave and sophisticated Lawrence Jameson.
He makes an extravagant living, persuading very rich ladies to part with their very fine jewellery and their large wads of cash.
Whilst all that is going on, American Freddy Benson is a petty con artist who uses his boyish charms and sob stories about his ailing grandmother to get by.
After meeting on a train, Freddy and Lawrence decide to try working together, only to find that the small French town isn’t quite big enough for the two of them.
They then come up with a challenge for the first man to extract $50,000 from the young heiress Christine Colgate. The winner gets to stay but the loser must leave town. The battle leads to a hilarious concoction of cons, philandering and sabotage.
Theatre director Andy Brown said: “The show features catchy, clever songs and lively laughs a plenty.”
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starts tomorrow (Wednesday) and runs until Saturday (June 10).
The remaining performances take place between next Wednesday (June 14) to the following Saturday (June 17).
