UP AND coming stand-up comedian Chris Martin will be appearing in the studio at Bromsgrove’s Artrix next Saturday (November 1).
His observational comedy show Responsibilities is the 28-year-old’s first UK tour after performing all over the world, including at venues in Dubai and New Zealand.
The Standard caught up with the London comic ahead of his visit to Bromsgrove.
We asked him what residents could expect of the show.
“It’s upbeat – I don’t have time to be depressing on stage.
“It’s quite silly in parts and I don’t talk about sex so you can bring your parents.
“I put across my argument which is usually based on my own stupid logic as there’s not really space in stand-up for debating.”
He said the reaction of everyone had been really good so far, both during the performances and on social network sites.
At one of his shows two men went to the toilet with five minutes to go, so he got the whole audience backstage so when they returned the auditorium was in darkness.
“They just sat in the dark finishing their pints,” he added.
Chris’ shows sold out at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe last year and he has supported Jack Whitehall and Russell Kane.
He has also appeared on a number of high profile TV programmes, including Fake Reaction on ITV2 and Dave’s One Night Stand.
And he has been on numerous radio shows, including 5 Live’s Fighting Talk, TalkSPORT’s Hawksbee and Jacobs and Comedy on the Boat on BBC Radio 4 Extra.
A podcast he does with Carl Donnelly is listed in the Guardian’s top ten podcasts.
Tickets for the show in the Artrix studio at 8pm on November 1 are £10 or £30 for groups of four.
They are available at www.artrix.co.uk or by calling 01527 577330.
