THERE will be plenty of egg-citement at Thomas Land and Drayton Manor Park this Easter holiday.

Parents and carers looking to entertain the children during the break will find plenty of fun for all the family from tomorrow (Saturday) to April 23.

As well as the usual rides and attractions, there will also be a special Easter trail which twists and turns around the park, challenging participants to find clues and solve them to earn an egg-stra special treat.

And there will be the chance for visitors to try out the brand new ride at Thomas Land which was officially launched on Saturday (April 1).

James and the Red Balloon takes riders into the air and provides the option for even more fun by enabling you to spin your balloon’s basket – similar to the way Drayton Manor’s ‘Drunken Barrels’ work.

The official opening was carried out by Drayton Manor Park’s Chief Executive Colin Bryan, with the help of The Fat Controller, who delighted visitors with a snippet of the classic story to signal the opening of the ride.

Excited competition winners couldn’t wait to climb aboard, fasten their seatbelts and prepare for take-off as they became the very first to experience the brand new ride.

As well as the new ride, there are all the favourites open – from Cranky’s Tower Drop and the Troublesome Trucks runaway roller coaster – for young thrill-seekers – through to the more gentle Bertie Bus, the Blue Mountain Engines and Winston’s Whistle-Stop Tours.

Jeremy Jet’s Flying Tours and Harold’s Helicopter Tours are also perfect for children who like heights.

All in all Thomas Land boasts 16 attractions in total, including a soft play area and, with the weather getting warmer, an outdoor play area so children can burn off all that excess energy they have.

Over Easter there are live shows being performed throughout the day, featuring everyone’s favourite Thomas & Friends characters.

As well as Thomas Land and the many rides Drayton Manor has to offer, along with the 4D cinema and fairground classics, such as the carousel and big wheel, there is also the impressive 15-acre zoo which enables you to get up close and personal with an array of animals, birds and reptiles.

The zoo’s experienced team of wildlife and conservation experts will be hosting feeding sessions at intervals throughout the day so visitors can see all sorts of animals from tigers and tapirs, to lemurs, meerkats and gibbons, munching on a morning snack or tucking into a tasty tea.

And with the spring breeding season upon us, beady-eyed guests might even be able to spot some new arrivals hatching!
