THEME parks are synonymous with the summer, but Thomas Land at Drayton Manor is a must this festive season.
There are over 20 rides open at the venue this Yule and loads of other seasonal activities to keep the whole family entertained.
Big fans of the little engines will have loads of fun on the many rides, including Harold’s Heli Tours, Diesel’s Locomotive Mayhem, Crazy Bertie Bus and – for the more daring of youngsters – The Troublesome Trucks Coaster.
Although you cannot beat being on theme park rides with the sun beating down, there is something equally nice riding them in the winter as you breathe in deeply the fresh December air, whilst wrapped up warm, looking down on the beautiful glistening and twinkling light displays.
The snow machine comes on at regular intervals in Thomas Land to make it feel even more Christmassy and if you want a break from the rides, you can always go down to the zoo to see a variety of animals – from birds and reptiles to penguins, big cats, meerkats, marmosets, other monkeys and more.
If the cold gets a bit too much, there is the chance to enjoy some festive treats in the warmth of the cafe.
Or – if like me you shy away from the big rides – you can ride the Polar Express in the comfort of the 4D cinema.
No festive event would be complete without a visit to Father Christmas’ Grotto and the man in the big red suit is there with his elves to delight children of all ages.
Then, as night falls, the curtain comes down on this festive extravaganza in spectacular fashion with a sky-lighting firework display.
