Norbury Theatre's The Ladykillers to get under way tonight

Droitwich Editorial 12th Sep, 2019   0

THE NORBURY Theatre’s latest production gets under way tonight, writes Abi Cook.

Graham Linehan’s The Lady Killers runs until Saturday, September 14, and from next Thursday to Saturday, September 19 to 21.

It centres on sweet, eccentric but bored old lady Mrs Wilberforce who lives alone with her parrots in a lopsided house.

She passes her time by reporting fanciful suspicions to her local police who give no credit to her supposed findings.

Mrs Wilberforce is then approached by the sinister Professor Marcus who is looking to rent rooms in her house.

Unknowingly to the old lady it used to be used as an assembly point for criminals planning to rob King’s Cross Station, located under Mrs Wilberforce’s house.

The gang say the room is to practice for their amateur string quintet band and even go as far as to carry instruments into her house and play recordings to fully deceive the old dear.

After the robbery is committed, Mrs W is tricked into collecting the disguised money from the station herself, presenting serious complications due to her reputation of meddling.

Tickets for the much-watch play are £11 for adults (£10 for students, under 16s and those aged 60 and over).

Performances are at 7.30pm.
