The NORBURY Youth Theatre’s production of Grease took the audience on a roller-coaster ride of high energy music, dance and dialogue.
The show centres around the too-cool-for-school Burger Palace Boys, the female gum-chewing, chain-smoking Pink Ladies and the romance between popular gangster Danny Zuko and sweet girl Sandy Dumbrowski.
Directors Sam Jeffrey and Vicky Lake did a fantastic job when they cast the show – Eddie Thomas (Danny), and Megan Pedley (Sandy) gave excellent portrayals of the two main characters.
They were ably supported by other members of the Youth Theatre giving a variety of cameo roles.
They all dealt well with the American accent and the fast dialogue.
The singing was strong and could be clearly heard.
The balance between the band and the vocals was just right and the dancing was exceptional, very professional and well choreographed by Cat Reeves.
From the look of those performing, it was obvious everyone enjoyed their time on the stage.
This was a feel good production which used all the well-known songs to their full potential.
As the audience left, they were all smiling and humming the tunes.
Judiging by this youth performance, the future of The Norbury Theatre and its productions looks assured in the hands of these highly talented young people.
