Plenty more in store in the second week of Droitwich ArtsFest

DROITWICH ArtsFest continues into its second week with a whole host of different activities, writes Gabriela Zdanko.

  • The free exhibition by members of Droitwich Arts Network and International MailArt runs until July 27. It is available to view at the town’s library until July 27 from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 9.30am and 6.30am on Tuesday and 9.30am to 3.30pm on Saturday. Today (Friday) artist in residence with Kenneth Robinson will be at the exhibition. Tina Watkins will be the artist in residence on Monday (July 16), with Karen Harmon and Peter Hawkins taking up the roles on Wednesday (July 18).

 

  • Tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a Sketching Walk in Droitwich town centre. Meet just before10am in the foyer of Droitwich Library in Victoria Square. The cost is £2 per person.

 

  • An event to remember the old Brine Baths in Droitwich and its salt history takes place from 10.30am tomorrow (Saturday). Meet outside the Droitwich Heritage and Tourism Information Centre.

 




  •  ‘Saltways’, a talk by Katy Beinhart, will be given at Droitwich Heritage Centre at 12.30pm tomorrow. Admission is free and Katy will talk about how she developed her ideas and artwork for the Saltways Project.

 

  • Talented musicians from Droitwich Spa High School will stage a musical showcase in St Andrews Square at 2pm tomorrow. Admission is free.

 


  • At 3pm tomorrow there will be a Chinese dragon parade around the town centre.

    The dragon will be made from midday until 2pm in a gazebo in Victoria Square and everyone is welcome to march in the procession. Admission is free.

 

  • Charley Barnes will be launching her poetry pamphlet, ‘A Z-hearted Guide To Heartache’, at 7pm tomorrow night at the Park’s Cafe, Victoria Square.

 

  • On Sunday (July 15), there will be the latest Bands in the Park event, featuring The Tenbury Teme Valley Band. The performance will take place between 2.30pm and 4.30pm in the bandstand in the Lido Park.

 

  • A multi-media show on womanhood called ‘30-40-60’ will be held at St Andrews Church on Tuesday (July 17) at 7.30pm. Admission is free but donations on a ‘pay what you want’ are requested (suggested £5).

 

  • Finally for this week, at 7.30pm on Thursday, July 19, there will be a variety of folk music in a friendly atmosphere with Droitwich Folk Club at the Old Cock Inn.
