THERE will be plenty of supernatural goings on at Droitwich’s Norbury Theatre next week when Noel Coward’s classic farce Blithe Spirit comes to town.
It centres around successful author Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth who invite a host of guests to their home to take part in a séance run by local psychic Madame Arcati so that Charles can get material for his new book.
Charles is convinced Madame Arcati is a fraud but things soon take a turn for the strange with the reappearance of Elvira, Charles’ devoted, and very deceased, first wife. The wistful spirit, who is only visible to Charles, causes chaos, leading to a crash between the personalities of this World and the other side.
Blithe Spirit was so successful it was the longest running play in the West End until it was surpassed by The Mousetrap.
Performances at the Norbury take place from next Thursday to Saturday, September 12 to 14, and then again a week later, between October 19 and 21.
