It turned out that people who absorbed more apples had a lower chance of thrombotic stroke.

Ones who consumed more apple fibre had a lower risk of coronary heart disease and stroke.

An apple weighing 180grams provides the human with 4.37grams of fibre.

This is approximately 13 to 20 per cent of the everyday requirement.

In addition, one apple a day provides nine to 11 per cent of the daily requirement for vitamin C, as well as four per cent of the daily requirement for potassium, which helps relax blood vessels, reducing the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular complications.

Apples and diabetes
