THE FAIRBOURNE Dodders’ Snow White was a great community production which provided plenty of laughs, audience interaction and even a seasonal singalong or two.
The cast of 18 was a fantastic mix of all ages, from youngsters – in the chorus and playing the dwarfs – and older members taking the other roles.
Everyone played their part on the night and there was great chemistry between the children playing Snow White’s seven little friends. The pick of those was Oliver Reynolds as TD who took to the stage like a duck to water.
Elsewhere Sophie Rutter and Sue Goode were both good in their fairy roles and Carry Smart and Sharon Cartwright were a wonderful double act as Bogwort and Stinkwort.
Lou Griffin was suitably evil as Queen Caligula, Phil Smart got the crowd involved well as Danny Dumpling, Phoebe Lydon was a great posh prince and James Cartwright made a sound pantomime dame.
But the funniest in the show was Graham Morgan as the Dodders’ doddering Black Wing.
There was some fantastic good-natured heckling from the audience and lots of laughs were generated from the cleverly placed references to the local pubs and chemist which had sponsored the event.
The best scene was the first one in the forest, which, fittingly used Christmas trees on the set and smaller ones carried by the characters.
The Fairbourne Dodders’ Snow White was geared more towards a younger audience than other pantos you will see but, overall, a good night of festive entertainment.
