THE MUSICAL Jekyll and Hyde will open at Droitwich’s Norbury Theatre next Wednesday, October 3.
The show is based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic gripping thriller about a talented physician with a brilliant mind going horrifically awry.
It is set to a powerful pop-rock score by Frank Wildhorn with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse.
In an attempt to cure his ailing father’s mental illness by separating ‘good’ from ‘evil’ in the human personality, Dr Jekyll inadvertently creates an alternate personality of pure evil, dubbed Mr Hyde who wreaks murderous havoc across London.
As his fiancée Emma grows increasingly fearful for her betrothed, prostitute, Lucy finds herself dangerously involved with both the doctor and his alter ego.
Struggling to control Hyde before he takes over for good, Jekyll must race to find a cure for the demon he has created in his own mind.
Melanie Brown from the Norbury said: “During rehearsals last night we took some photos of Dr Jekyll himself in his laboratory but when we looked closer a ghostly face appeared to be behind him in the mirror.
“Has the famous Norbury ghost finally made her appearance?

Performances run from next Wednesday to next Saturday, October 3 to 6, and the following Wednesday to Saturday, October 10 to 13.
