AN APPEAL has been launched to find the Bromsgrove Men In Sheds group a new home after it was told the unit it currently occupies is being put up for sale.
The scheme, run by Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest, has operated from Unit 1 Metal and Ores Industrial Estate, Stoke Prior, since 2016.
But the group’s lease expires at the beginning December and the charity fears it will have to vacate then.
Men In Sheds was based on an Australian project started in the 1990s called ‘Men’s Sheds’ to combat loneliness and social isolation in older men where retirement can mean loss of status and contact.
As well as the friendship among members, the group also benefits the community by getting involved in local projects.
