BUDDING creatives are being encouraged to transform their creativity into a positive sense of wellbeing at an upcoming event in Droitwich.
The town’s arts network is hosting a free creative workshop from 10am to 2pm on Thursday, October 10 at The Hub in St Andrews Square.
Two members of Droitwich Arts Network Committee Karen Read and Jess Wood have joined forces to organise the Creativity for Wellness Day workshop.
The pair are passionate about artforms to promote wellbeing and channeling creative expression to bring about mindfulness and peace.
Karen focuses on words and is keen to example how poetry can be emotive, helping to evoke and release negative feelings.
She is involved with the organisationStamping Out Stigma, which works to raise awareness for mental health, encouraging people to speak out and provide a safe platform to do so. Jess is an artist and art therapist.
The workshop will feature activities such as bark rubbing, mandala colouring, decorating and making memory boxes, writing positive affirmations and pebble painting.
The simple yet effective techniques aim to offer mental health sufferers a healthy coping mechanism through art and poetry, acting as a form of escapism via the mindful approach this event provides.
