FAMILIES and residents flocked to Droitwich Spa in their droves over the weekend to celebrate the start of the town’s festivities.
Droitwich Spa hosted its annual Lights Switch-On alongside a swathe of entertainment to help visitors get into the Christmas spirit.
Despite the fairground rides being postponed due to poor weather caused by Storm Bert, visitors were still able to experience plenty of festive fun last Saturday (November 23).
Droitwich Spa Town Council moved a lot of the attractions indoors to beat the elements and make sure the festivities could go as planned.
The countdown and switch on was hosted by the mayor, councillor Alex Sinton and Santa at 6pm but not before a host of music, choir and dance performances.
Droitwich Lions hosted its popular Santa’s Grotto for the children and there were seasonal stalls and the town’s first ever lantern festival.
Live entertainment was hosted in The Community Hall, Heritage Way and in Victoria Square.
There were performances from Norbury Theatre performers, the Salvation Army Band, ENTW9 dance display, SB Danceworks, and Westacre Middle School.
The I-Sing Choir also performed for the crowds.
