Come and help paint Droitwich mural

Droitwich Editorial 26th Mar, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

RESIDENTS are being urged to go along tomorrow (Saturday) to help Droitwich Arts Network create this year’s mural.

The piece, behind Malvern Tyres, at Netherwich Canal Basin, will be seen from Vines Park from May to October.

The painting of the 21 panels will take place from 10am to 4pm in St Andrew’s Square, near Boots and Peacocks.

The 2015 design – created by pupils of Witton Middle School – is a montage of images relating to Droitwich’s Royal Charter and the Magna Carta.

Those two documents were signed in 1215 and this year is the 800th anniversary of them both.

The panels will be between 4t and 8ft and 4ft by 6ft, with the total mural being 64ft.

Water-based paints will be used and gloves and aprons will be provided.

Any cash raised on the day will go to St Richard’s Hospice.

The mural has been supported by a number of firms and organisations, including Droitwich Town Council, Worcestershire County Council, Nicol and Co estate agents, Malvern Tyres, The Bodleys (industrial automation) and County Building Supplies.

Anyone wanting more information on the project should e-mail Peter Hawkins from DAN on dan@droitwichspa.com or call 07766 413094 or e-mail dan@droitwichspa.com.
