A DODDERHILL School pupil proved she has the ingredients for success after winning the local final of a cooking competition.
Josie Ross cranked up her oven to showcase her cookery skills in Springboard’s FutureChef competition at the Heart of Worcestershire College.
The talented 14-year-old beat off three other hopefuls aged between 12 and 16, with her winning menu of carrot, spinach and cheese layer, followed by a date and orange cake with orange syrup.
She will now go on to compete in the regional final, and hopes to make it to the national finals in March next year.
Josie said: “I’m so excited – I never thought I’d win.”
Her mentor Craig Miles added: “Josie’s dish was full of flavour and I’m looking forward to mentoring her in the next round.”
Runner up, Carl Ridsdale, from South Bromsgrove High School, will also go on to the regional heat after serving up a fillet of red millet with roasted fennel and an iced chocolate parfait.
Springboard’s FutureChef is a nationwide culinary scheme which helps young people gain an insight into the industry.
