DROITWICH’S first ever beer festival in Vines Park was full to capacity for most of the weekend with more than 1,875 pints drank by revellers over the Saturday and Sunday (June 21 and 22).
It was organised by Simon Berry from the town’s Gardeners Arms pub and the 4Shires Festivals and there were 15 hand-pulled ales and 12 ciders on offer.
Simon told The Standard: “We are planning to do an even bigger one next year with more capacity, more beers and more bands.
“The feedback we have had has been amazing – everyone has said they have never seen anything like it in Droitwich and are looking forward to more 4Shires Festivals events.”
There was also 15 music acts who took to the stage as part of the ‘music and beer weekend’, including The Reflections, Haunted Souls and three-piece group Lynx who were from Droitwich’s twin town of Bad Ems.
The next 4Shires event will be a cider festival on August 1 to coincide with Charter Day.
That will feature Black Voices, who have performed in front of the royal family, Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul II.
