DROITWICH’S SaltFest will return next week and will be bigger and better than ever.
The five-day event based in Vines Park is the biggest free entry festival in the town and will start on Wednesday with the first-ever Saltfest Open Mic Night showcasing the very best of Worcestershire’s talent.
On the Thursday, August 29, there will be the return of the comedy night with new artists, including some as seen on TV.
Then on the Friday, August 30, the official opening of SaltFest will take place at 12.30pm with live entertainment from 6.30pm.
On Saturday and Sunday, August 31 and September 1, there will be more than 118 stalls offering a variety of items from tea and coffee to hampers, craft, art, clothes and garden plants. A total of 24 will boast street and bespoke food.
Attic Brew Co, gold-award winners in the SIBA’s Midlands Independent Beer Awards, will also have a bar.
And there will be plenty of children’s entertainment, including a funfair, silent disco, virtual reality rides, boat trips, pony rides and children’s time outdoor cinema.
In a nod to the spa town’s past, there will be a Roman village and salt-making demonstrations.
This year’s headline band Notability – billed as the UK’s best Foo Fighters tribute band – takes to the stage at 8.45pm on Saturday.
This year features a new event in Lido Park – the Vicarage Village Fete. It will, feature market stalls, a wine shop, the Bee Honey Society, an open buffet and coffee cabin.
Light entertainment will come in the form of a community choir, brass band, dog show, fun run, vicar’s quiz, magic show and the largest open air Sunday church service in Worcestershire at 11am by the Lido Park bandstand.
The organisers said it was all being put on to ‘bring the community together and promote Droitwich’s tourism unique history’.
Concluding SaltFest will be an environmentally friendly firework display on Sunday from 8.30pm.
