Help your feathered friends by making a nest box at Webbs

Droitwich Editorial 13th Feb, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

CHILDREN wanting to offer their feathered friends a helping hand during half-term can get to Webbs in Wychbold and make their very own bird box.

The hands-on workshops which run from Monday to next Friday (February 16 to 20) coincide with National Nest Box Week and are aimed at encouraging everyone to help breeding birds and other wildlife.

The sessions run from 11am to 4pm each day and cost £5, which includes the materials used to make the boxes.

Visitors will also be able to follow the venue’s fun trail around the Riverside Gardens, there will be face-painting and fair rides for an extra charge and Professor Pepperpot will be entertaining youngsters with his balloons and jokes.

Webbs chairman Ed Webb said: “We have some brilliant birds in the UK from robins to owls.

“As more trees are cut down, birds lose their homes, so putting up boxes is a great way of helping our winged friends – and it’s thought there’s now between 5million to 6million boxes across the UK.”

Tickets for the nest box decorating can be bought in store on the day.

Visit www.webbs.co.uk for more information.
