DROITWICH’S history is normally associated with Romans but next Saturday (June 21), the town will be invaded by Vikings who will be sailing up the canal on the Pamela May.
Then at 10am in Victoria Square as part of the Droitwich Festival, a horde of Saxon re-enactors, led by Helen Karakashian as Queen Aethelflaed, the Lady of the Mercians, will drive off the Viking invaders back to the Vines Park.
There, for the rest of the day, the horn helmeted crews will take parties of residents for short trips along the canal on the Pamela May.
It is hoped that boys, girls and their parents will dress as Vikings or Saxons for their trip.
