A NEW dementia cafe is coming to Droitwich thanks to the county’s branch of the Age UK charity.
Age UK Herefordshire and Worcestershire’s new Dementia Cafe will open its doors at Droitwich Rugby Club for the first time on September 3 (10.30am to 12.30pm).
The Droitwich Dementia Cafe will offer a welcoming environment where attendees can participate in a variety of engaging events and activities.
Beyond the activities, the café provides an opportunity for attendees to form friendships and connect with others over a cup of tea and cake.
This new Café is generously sponsored by Better Together, a Companionship and Concierge service, whose support has made this expansion possible.
Founder, Alexandra Doyle, said: “Better Together will always be appreciative of the chance to help such wonderful community initiatives.
“Sometimes it’s as easy as getting together with like-minded people to give a little something back to those who are most in need.”
The primary focus is to provide support, information, and a sense of community for people living with mild to moderate dementia, as well as their carers, friends, and family members.
These cafés also serve as a space for carers to unwind, share experiences, and connect with others who understand the unique challenges they face.
Age UK H&W Dementia Services Manager, Kelly Reeves, is delighted about the new addition. She added: “I’m very excited to announce the opening of a new dementia café in Droitwich.
“Our dementia cafés across the county have become invaluable hubs of support, friendship, and fun, so it’s fantastic to be adding another one to make access easier for those living with dementia in the area.
“We are deeply grateful to Better Together for their incredible support in making this new venture possible.”
The cafe will continue to run on the first Tuesday of every month at the same time. No bookings required. Attendance is free.
