New sculpted canal signpost unveiled at Droitwich's Vines Park

Droitwich Editorial 2nd Jan, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A NEW canal signpost which is as much a piece of art as it is informative has been put up in Vines Park.

Coun Andrew and Wendy Dyke unveiled the oak sculpture which stands over three metres tall and was made by expert wood carver Tom Harvey. His work has been used in numerous parks across Wychavon.

The sign points to the furthest northern, southern, eastern and western places attainable on the inland waterway system.

The sculpture was paid for with money raised in 2009 and 2010 when Coun Andrew Dyke was Wychavon District Council’s chairman and chose the Droitwich Canals Trust as one of his charities to fund-raise for.

He said: “I could not be more delighted with the new signpost.

“I know visitors to the area will stop and read the information and appreciate the artistry for many years to come.”
