A NEW centre for young children with special educational needs (SEND) has opened in Droitwich.
Dingley’s Promise is delighted to announce the opening of its new centre which will focus on supporting SEND children under five years of age.
The centre in Farmer’s Way, Droitwich, opened to families for stay and play sessions last week ahead of plans to open another centre in St Albans Close, Worcester in January 2025.
Both will offer enhanced provision for children and support families across the county. The centres will add to the groups existing six existing hubs.
Dingley’s Promise provides tailored support for children under 5 with a wide range of additional needs, whilst also supporting their families to navigate the challenges of accessing support and entitlements.
Lee Friend, chief operating officer at Dingley’s Promise, said: “We are aware of the challenges families and early years educators have experienced and are excited and prepared to support as many families as possible to ensure that children with SEND in this area get the best start in life.
“Dingley’s Promise staff are highly trained in inclusive practice to enable children to develop in their own individual way and where possible enable them to access mainstream education as a result of our support”
As well as enhanced nursery provision, the centres will provide a Family Support Outreach service offering coffee mornings and Stay and Play sessions and information sessions.
These are designed to develop networks of support as well as providing strategies and information to support families.
Holiday playschemes will also be provided to offer respite for families and a safe and practical environment for children with additional needs to play, supported by specialist early years educators.
Councillor David Chambers, Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for education, said: “We’re pleased to be working with Dingley’s Promise to provide important support for young children with SEND and their families.
“We know that early intervention and family support play a key role in improving long-term outcomes for children with SEND.”
