A NINE-year-old boy was rushed to Birmingham’s Children’s Hospital after being involved in a collision with a car in Droitwich yesterday morning (Saturday).

The incident happened just before 9.20am in Salwarpe Road when it is believed the boy was dragged underneath the silver Vauxhall Corsa which was being driven by an 84-year-old Droitwich woman.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed an ambulance, a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham, which had a critical care paramedic on board, were sent to the scene.

The helicopter landed in the King George Playing Fields.

And, after being quickly assessed by crews at the team, it was revealed the boy, who had his parents with him, was suffering from abdominal pain, along with cuts and injuries to his elbow and shoulder.

He was immobilised on a scoop stretcher and pelvic binder before being taken to the Children’s by ambulance.

The critical care paramedic from the Air Ambulance travelled with the boy to continue his treatment en-route.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information should call West Mercia Police on 101.
