THE CASTLE in Droitwich cooked up what is believed to be the longest ever Bratwurst in the UK to launch its Oktoberfest menu.
The 12.12metre creation symbolised the 1,212 km distance between the pub and Munich in Germany, the home of Oktoberfest.
Hundreds of pub-goers got to try part of the extra-long sausage, complete with crispy onions, mustard and curry ketchup.
Visitors also enjoyed Oktoberfest games and a live oompah band as is traditional at the annual celebration.
Rebecca Hall, The Castle’s general manager, said: “Droitwich Spa is a long way from Munich, so we wanted to give our customers a taste of Oktoberfest in their local pub – and make history with the longest bratwurst in the Midlands.”
She added the team had great fun grilling the authentic bratwurst which was made with traditional German ingredients.
Marc Razzell, The Sausage Man, who supplies the bratwurst for Seared Pubs, said: “When Seared Pubs approached us, we were keen to take on this challenge.
“We’ve been making bratwursts for decades using a recipe that’s been handed down from generation to generation in Germany – it’s as traditional as you can get.”
The Oktoberfest menu, offering bratwurst, steins of German beer, schnitzel and other delicacies, is available at The Castle until October 31.
