OUTGOING Droitwich Spa Mayor, Coun Bob Brookes, was honoured for what he achieved during his year in office with a special dinner at the Gardeners Arms.

Coun Brookes has been involved with a programme run by the Gardeners Arms and a Swedish company to develop tourism and promote the town.

He gave three separate informative talks on Droitwich to 40 tourists, providing them with an insight into the history of the town.

The Swedish firm was so impressed with the way he personally greeted clients, saying it was something they had never experienced in other parts of the world.

“Our clients have been delighted, with this aspect of the tour, which we have brought three parties to over the last two years.

“Next year we are looking to increase our numbers,” said the spokesperson.

They presented Coun Brookes with a bottle of Pol Roger – reported to be Winston Churchill’s most favourite champagne.

Simon Berry, landlord of the Gardners Arms, also praised Coun Brookes for giving talks to large coach parties arranged by the pub.
