PEOPLE in Droitwich have been warned to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in rural areas after an incident of ‘lamping’ in Elmbridge.
A green and silver Subaru Forester – ’57’ registration plate – was spotted around 9.27pm acting suspiciously on Wednesday night around 9.30pm.
Lamping is when hunters use high-powered lights or lamps to hunt nocturnal wildlife at night in lamping. Lights are attached to the roof of their vehicle – usually a 4×4 or off-road vehicle so they can drive across verges and fields – or use large handheld torches.
Lamping is often used to hunt rabbits and deer but can also be used for badgers and foxes.
Anyone who sees vehicles which appear to be lamping should call police on 101 or 999 if the crime is taking place.
