A PUB COMPANY and the Royal British Legion want punters from Droitwich to raise a glass and then take it home to raise money for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Marston’s is teaming up with the RBL in a nod to Brits who have taken pub glasses home without permission. This time it’s encouraged as five Droitwich pubs will join over 1,000 others across the UK in serving drinks in limited-edition commemorative glasses.
The pair have partnered to create brand new, poppy-themed glasses to raise vital funds for veterans. Customers are encouraged to purchase a glass along with their drinks, with 100 per cent of the profits going to the RBL.
Pubs involved in the Droitwich district include the Old Cock Inn, Friar Street, the Riflemans Arms, Station Street, the Pillar of Salt, Copcut Hill, the Red Lion Inn, Falsams Pitts, and the Crown, Wychbold.
The Royal British Legion is the country’s largest Armed Forces charity, with over 180,000 members.
Since 1921, the charity has been dedicated to supporting serving and ex-serving veterans, as well as the wider Armed Forces community including dependants and carers.
Ben France, head of corporate partnerships from The Royal British Legion, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering to support Poppy Appeal this year and beyond.
“The fundraising will help transform the lives of those in need across our Armed Forces community.”
Each year, the Poppy Appeal is launched to raise funds for The Royal British Legion ahead of Remembrance Sunday, with donations being used to provide vital support to the community.
Jared Sedgwick, director of operations from Marston’s, said: “We’re so proud to be working with the RBL to give our customers another way to raise awareness and crucial funds for veterans, who are such a large part of the Marson’s community.
“We want to welcome everyone to their local pub for what will be a month to remember, and join us in saying cheers to our heroes.”
Marston’s has resigned the Armed Forces Covenant earlier this year and supports veterans and families through employment opportunities and support. Several Marston’s pubs are ran or staffed by ex-serving veterans.
Visit https://www.marstonspubs.co.uk/month-to-remember/ for more information. Pint glasses will cost £2.50 and half pint glasses will cost £2. Each pint glass sold will raise 97p and each half pint glass sold will raise 47p for the RBL.
