VISITORS to Hanbury Hall this festive season will be taking a trip down memory lane to celebrate Christmas retro-style.
The National Trust site is inviting all of the family along to celebrate life at Christmas inspired by the 1970s and 1980s.
Visitors will get a blast from the past as they explore the house dressed for the Christmas many will still remember – a riot of colour, lights, and tunes galore – from November 30 to January 5.
Explore the decorated rooms, from opening presents on Christmas morning in the Ladies Parlour, to Christmas evening TV and board games in the Great Parlour.
Reminisce over your favourite games, toys and food from the period, catch some of the classics on the vintage telly, and dance around to all the best number one hits.
Explore the formal gardens and see if you can find eight hidden glitter balls. Younger visitors can pick up an activity sheet inside the Hall to spot and learn more about retro items on display.
You may even bump into Father Christmas as he wanders around the house and gardens.
Don’t forget to visit the Long Gallery to explore a new exhibition celebrating music and fashion of the 1970s and 1980s, as remembered by the staff and volunteers of Hanbury Hall and Greyfriars.
In the Courtyard you’ll find a glistening 16-foot Christmas tree and the second-hand bookshop decorated for Christmas, filled to the brim with award winning titles, comforting classics, and children’s books.
Follow one of three waymarked routes on a winter walk in the parkland, and afterwards relax and refuel in the sites restaurant and cafe.
No pre-booking needed. Visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/hanbury-hall for more information.
