COLLEAGUES from a Droitwich opticians are inviting customers and the local community to help with food donations.
The team at Specsavers on St Andrews Square in Salter’s Shopping Centre, have been collecting food donations in aid of Droitwich Foodbank. Donations will be given on National Foodbank Day (Sunday, September 1).
With 1 in 5 people in the UK living below the poverty line, the Specsavers Droitwich team are encouraging as many people as possible to donate items of non-perishable food and toiletries to support those in need.
Emma Singh, store director at Specsavers Droitwich said: “Foodbanks all over the country are experiencing extremely high demand as so many individuals are struggling to put food on the table.
“With food being something that people often first neglect when household budgets are stretched, we want to support those who are struggling in our community by inviting members of the public to join us in our efforts to donate.
“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming amount of donations we have already received and it’s been great to see the community come together to support such an important cause.”
Donations can be taken to the store at Salter’s Shopping Centre, Unit 10, St Andrews Square until Sunday, September 1.
