A SUBSTANTIAL amount of damage was caused to Droitwich Rugby Club following a break-in during the early hours of this morning (Monday).
Charity buckets and staff tip jars were stolen in the burglary.
The club is run voluntarily and works hard to bring grassroots sport to the town, along with events, including the recent very successful WychFest over the bank holiday weekend.
Bosses said they were very saddened by the actions of person involved.
The club is working with police and forensic teams and says the CCTV has picked up clear images of the person responsible.
The damage to the club and its windows also meant an NHS Give Blood session, due to be held at the club today, had to be cancelled.
In a statement, the management said it was working with the police to try and track down the burglar.
“Huge apologies for the inconvenience caused by this and hopefully with support of the local police and authorities, we will get to the bottom of who has done this.”
Anyone wanting to make a donation to help the club can visit a special GoFundMe page here.
The management added: “Your support is much appreciated.”
Witnesses or anyone with any information on those responsible should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
