THE ANNUAL Droitwich Festival has been hailed another success after thousands of people descended on the Spa over the weekend.
The event, which happened on Saturday and Sunday (June 21 and 22) was officially opened by renowned food writers and critics Tom Parker-Bowles and Charles Campion.
There were more than 120 local food and drink companies, along with local organisations and charities which had stalls throughout the town centre and a host of other activities as well.
The winners of the Droitwich Junior Bake Off were also chosen – Ralph Bennett came first in the five to nine category for his chocolate and beetroot cup cakes.
And Rosie Hopkins was ‘victorious’ in the ten to 15 section with her Victoria sponge cake depicting Droitwich’s Hop Pole Gardens.
Tom Parker-Bowles said: “Thank you for having me and what a splendid festival – it was proper in every way.”
Nigel Huddleston MP, who visited the event on Saturday, said: “I took the opportunity to get around most of the stalls and was absolutely amazed by the variety and quality of food and drink on offer.
“The local producers did us all proud and with exhibitors even coming from France you have now firmly put Droitwich Spa on the established food festival map.”
Among the other feedback received by the organisers was that they liked the range of stalls and the friendly atmosphere.
