Town church extends invite ahead of Heritage Open Day event

Droitwich Editorial 2nd Sep, 2024 Updated: 5th Sep, 2024   0

A DROITWICH church is opening its doors for visitors during this year’s Heritage Open Days to showcase the history and story behind each site.

The church will welcome all for a showcase of historical significance and to honour the communities they serve from 10am on September 7 and 8. Visiting is free.

St Mary and All Saints Church in Hampton Lovett will showcase an exhibit around its nearby railway and footpath connections. Visitors can see a working model of the local railway, the church and the old Cutnall Green Halt.

Attendees can also learn about locally relevant Operation Starfish in World War II, discover the Monarch’s Way footpath passing through the churchyard – the escape route of the future King Charles II after the Battle of Worcester in 1651.

This year’s Heritage Open Days take place between September 6 and September 15 as an opportunity to celebrate the nations heritage, community and history by exploring hidden places and trying new experiences.
