DROITWICH History Society will be showcasing its collection of very large scale maps which date back for more than 140 years.
The plans show the area 100 times larger than the latest explorer maps and will be fascinating to view for both Droitwich residents and those living in the surrounding villages.
The free exhibit will be at Droitwich Library next Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28.
Committee member Alan Baker said among the intriguing features to view were the Poor Law Institution, Great Western Hotel and multitude of salt works.
“And comparison with even older maps from 1786 show how the turnpike road to Hanbury had its course changed after the junction canal was constructed,” he added.
“Visitors will enjoy seeing what existed on the land where they now live.”
