A SCHOOL in Droitwich has shared its delight after receiving a visit from one of the town’s prominent councillors during a special project.
Westacre Middle School welcomed Droitwich Spa Town councillor Richard Morris during its Good Citizen Award this morning (Monday, November 11).
The award is an initiative designed to encourage children to develop and demonstrate positive behaviours and values within their community.
This programme aims to cultivate responsible, engaged, and compassionate young citizens through a series of progressive challenges.
As part of the project, the children are encouraged to complete tasks at home and learn new life skills.
These skills include things such as first aid training and learning how to confidently use public transport, among other things.
Assistant headteacher, Mrs Page, who helps organise the project said: “The children learn skills that will support them in becoming active members of society.
Head teacher, Donna Evans said she was delighted by the support local organisations have given to the award like the local policing team who have come in to school to talk about safety and responsibility in the community.
She added: “It was fantastic to have councillor Morris here today to help celebrate the achievements of our pupils.”
Coun Morris added: “I was so pleased to be invited to hand out the very first good citizen bronze awards in this morning’s assembly.
“Good Citizen Award is a really great initiative by the school. The students were terrific and supported by brilliant teachers.
