TWO AMERICANS from Worcester, Massachusetts flew half way around the world to take part in a film quiz in the city.
Jack Carlin, a 17-year-old a budding Youtuber, was looking at things to do in Worcester when he came across the film quiz, but soon realised it was in the UK.
He spoke to a friend about the mix-up, but decided it would be ‘hilarious’ to actually do the journey and take part in the quiz.
Jack said: “It took about 15 minutes for me to decide I was going to England.”
Jack roped in his grandad, Jack Thuman, and they flew to Worcester, a journey of 3,204 miles.
The pair flew to Britain on Tuesday, August 13 before taking part in the quiz the next day and then traveled back to the US on August, 15.
Jack added: “It was such a whirlwind, I had only ever been to London before to do the typical tourist activities.
“I felt like I had the proper UK experience, it was such a charming city and I love visiting.”
Worcester Film Festival hosted a series of events through the city to promote the festival which will be happening over September 25-28.
Director, Hendrik Harms, said: “It was a little bit bonkers but it was such a heartwarming thing to see – and we’d welcome him back with open arms next year.”
Jack and his grandad flew to Britain on Tuesday, August 13 before taking part in the quiz the next day and then travelled back to the US on August, 15.
Hendrik had also pointed the teen and his grandad in the direction of The King Charles House, a 450-year-old boozer for ‘history and proper English pub grub’.
He added: “Jack was recording his whole trip as it would probably make quite good content for his channel.”
The pair are planning on returning to the festival in 2025.
Jack said: “Worcester is so much cleaner and brighter than our version, it’s a lovely city, and we enjoyed it so much.
“Next time though I’d remember to bring a UK adapter to charge my phone.”
