Your guide to Droitwich's Remembrance service

Droitwich Editorial 29th Oct, 2024 Updated: 9th Nov, 2024   0

PEOPLE across Droitwich Spa will soon fall silent to remember those who lost their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts.

Parades and services will take place in the town centre and in villages across the district to pay tribute.

On Sunday, November 10 the RBL will join local authority and religious leaders for a Remembrance Sunday service, again at the War Memorial in Victoria Square. Both services are timed for 11am.

On Remembrance Sunday , parade commander Paul Wilde, will lead his procession along Ombersley Street East and arrive at Victoria Square at 10.45 am ahead of the service.

The service, as is tradition, will feature a wreath laying, the Exhortation, the Kohima Epitaph, the Reveille, and opening and closing hymns. The service will also be backed by Droitwich Salvation Army Brass Band.

Unlike the previous year, there will be no church service held at St Andrews. Instead, the Act of Remembrance will naturally disperse from Victoria Square at the conclusion.

The church will remain open on Sunday, November 10 as a place to gather for private memorial and reflection. The Church will be decorated with poppies for the occasion.

On Monday, November 11, the Droitwich Royal British Legion (RBL) will mark Armistice Day with a service at the War Memorial in Victoria Square, Droitwich.
