DROITWICH Spa RFC crashed out of the Midlands Intermediate Cup on Saturday after suffering a demoralising 37-0 defeat to an on-fire Shrewsbury side.
Any hopes of Droitwich beating the Midlands Two West (North) appeared to be all but over after a disappointing opening 20 minutes.
The hosts took full advantage of Spa’s sloppy start to open up a 22-0 lead. The visitors did well to come back into the game, but errors and poor decision-making allowed Shrewsbury to remain on top and run in further tries in the second half.
Droitwich’s best individual performances went to Dan Wilkinson and Luke Topping on what was a very poor day for the inexperienced side.
But they will now be looking to get their Midlands Two West (South) campaign back on track when they travel to Leamington tomorrow (Saturday).
