TWO young Droitwich boxers showed off their potential after travelling up to Tamworth and claiming success.
Following in the footsteps of Droitwich Amateur Boxing Academy prospect Sian O’Toole, Sophie Morton, 13, and Tom Reuben 10, gave a great account of themselves.
Sophie proved way too strong for Tamworth Amateur Boxing Club’s Georgia Rose as she scored a unanimous points victory, winning all three games in a powerful and dominant display.
Meanwhile, Tom showed off his talents in a skills bout against McKenzie Hathaway, who came under a barrage of shots and jabs throughout the contest from his stronger opponent.
Jayson Doyle, Droitwich Amateur Boxing Academy coach, said: “The junior and youth set-up is the lifeblood of the club and Tom and Sophie are part of an exciting crop of youngsters that we have got coming through.
“Tom started in our paperweight group for ages nine and over and has worked his way into the squad over the past 12 months, whilst Sophie has been with us for the past two years and is really now starting to fulfil her potential.
“Sian O’Toole’s recent England call-up shows what can be achieved with hard work, effort and determination and we hope this will provide an inspiration to Tom, Sophie and the rest of the Academy as well as any other local youngsters wanting to take up the sport with us.”
