DROITWICH Ladies B moved to the summit of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Summer League Division Three table with two victories in the space of a week.
The first victory came when the ladies beat local rivals Ombersley A 5-1.
Sue Webber and Heather Fellows lost their first match 2-6, 6-4, 6-7 before responding with a 6-1, 6-4 success in their second.
Kate Hughes and Margaret Hughes dominated their first match with a 6-1, 6-1 win and followed this up with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in their second.
Linda Price and Lydia Walker-Cox also produced two superb performances to win 7-6, 6-4 and 6-2, 6-4 respectively.
The second win of the week came 45 miles away at Goodrich.
Kate and Margaret Hughes continued their excellent form with a 6-1, 6-3 win in their first match followed by a 6-1, 6-4 victory in their second.
Linda Price and Karen Dobson lost their first match 3-6, 3-6 but produced a stunning performance to win their second 6-2, 6-1.
Sue Webber and Heather Fellows won 6-4, 6-2 in their first and despite a 1-6, 3-6 loss in their second, Droitwich did enough to secure a 4-2 victory.
The Men’s E team slipped to fifth in Division Nine East following their 5-1 defeat at Worcester F.
Mark Venables and Sam Reavey lost 2-6, 2-6 in their first match and 4-6, 1-6 in their second.
Richard Probyn-Skinner and Nigel Hughes put in two gritty performances but unfortunately lost 1-6, 6-7 and 2-6, 5-7 respectively.
Daniel Ballard and Jonathan Carter could not hold the momentum in their first match as they fell to a 6-1, 3-6, 0-6 defeat but did pick up the consolation with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in their second.
The Ladies F were beaten by a strong Worcester C outfit in Division Eight East.
Helen Bibbey and Caroline Moran gave their all but lost 1-6, 3-6 and 0-6, 1-6 in both of their respective matches.
Christine Brighton and Judy Robins lost their first game 0-6, 2-6 and the second 1-6, 0-6.
Melanie Cook and Fiona Fogg won their first match 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 but lost their second 2-6, 3-6 as Worcester sealed the victory.
The Men’s C team lost 4-2 at home to David Lloyd Dudley A in Division Four East.
Neil Bates and Ben Steel were involved in two marathon matches, losing the first 7-5, 2-6, 5-7 before winning the second 6-4, 1-6, 7-6.
Dave Lamb and Bruce Turner lost their first match 1-6, 5-7 but responded well with a 6-4, 6-4 win in their second.
Despite the best efforts of Carlos Segura and Mark Pearsall, they lost their first match in a nail-biting three-hour encounter 6-4, 2-6, 6-7 before a straight set defeat in their second as Droitwich dropped to fifth in the table.
Elsewhere, there was also disappointment for the Men’s A team in Division One as they were beaten 4-2 by Wall Heath A.
James Nam and Jon Sarriegui gave their all but lost both of their matches 4-6, 4-6 and 3-6, 2-6 respectively against strong opponents.
Lee Cowan and Matt Baker lost their first match 2-6, 4-6 but produced an excellent display to win their second 6-2, 6-4.
Mark Jones and Ben Buckley were involved in two epic matches, winning the first 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 but losing the second 4-6, 6-3, 1-6 as Wall Heath claimed the win.
