DROITWICH Spa Ladies Firsts brought an end to Harborne’s unbeaten run in Worcestershire League Division Two.
Spa started the more composed of the two teams as they kept the ball and played with composure but failed to create many chances.
Harborne had several short corners of the own but they too were guilty of not carving out any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities.
However, the deadlock was broken in the 22nd minute when Spa’s Lucy Hine powered home with a low shot from inside the circle.
And just several minutes Spa made it 2-0 as Gabriella Prendivelle hounded the Harborne defence before assisting Hannah Lee.
After the break, Harborne started the quicker as they quickly pressed Spa relentlessly as they created chance after chance but were foiled by Kayleigh Thomas in goal.
When the visitors had the chance, they hit on the break with Sam Wakelam missing a glorious chance to put the game beyond doubt as she flashed wide from a one-on-one situation.
Spa skipper Hine then scuffed another chance wide before Wakelam made amends for her earlier miss as she netted the third and final goal of the afternoon.
In an entertaining ten-goal thriller, the Droitwich Spa Badgers drew 5-5 with Evesham & Badsey.
Spa were the dominant force in the opening exchanges with John Phillips missing a gilt-edged chances from close rane following a subtle pass from Sam Radford.
Phillips found himself clean through once more but again failed to find the target as his effort sailed wide.
Spa’s pressure eventually told as the scoring was opened by George Hutchocks who fired home from a penalty corner.
Evesham quickly equalised within a minute but two strikes from Matthew Gurr put Spa 3-1 up.
But just before half-time the visitors pulled one back.
In the second half Spa soaked up a lot of pressure as Evesham’s experience came into the game but the hosts hit on the break as Fernando Prendiville made it 4-2.
However, Evesham would not lie down and scored three goals in seven minutes to take a 5-4 lead.
But with two minutes remaining, Spa levelled the game as Prendiville grabbed his second goal of an entertaining game.
