A COMFORTABLE 4-0 victory for Droitwich’s Mixed A team over local rivals Ombersley A moved them to the summit of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League Division Two table.
Unfortunately, Ombersley could only field only one pair which meant Droitwich were given a 2-0 head start before the match even begun.
Despite this, Droitwich produced two very good displays with Joe Maidment and Marelize Yorke winning their match 3-6, 7-6, 7-6 before Heidi Harris and Mark Jones sealed the points with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in their match.
The Ladies C sit fifth in the Division Seven East table following their 3-1 defeat at Bewdley B.
Despite the best efforts of Liz French and Gillian McDonald, they lost both of their matches 3-6, 2-6 and 2-6, 1-6 respectively.
Julie Rhodes and Jackie Passey lost their first match 4-6, 2-6 before earning a hard-fought 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 victory in their second.
Elsewhere the Men’s B picked up a 4-0 victory at Wall Heath B to maintain their 100 per cent start in Division Four East.
In the slippery conditions Joe Maidment and Ian Bowman were in superb form and won both of their respective matches 6-0, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-0.
John Moran and Rich Clive were equally as impressive in their first match, winning 6-1, 6-0 before a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win in their second to seal the win.
