DROITWICH’S very own Paralympic silver medalist missed out on a medal at the Para Swimming International Meet after falling ill.
Rebecca Redfern came fourth in a highly-competitive 100m breaststroke final held at Ponds Forge Arena.
The Worcester Swimming Club ace finished with a time of one minute 17.35 seconds, slower than her 1.13:81 which she set in the Paralympic Games last year.
Due to her sickness, Redfern was forced to miss the second half of the meet.
The 17-year-old will now turn her attentions to a three-week training programme in Arizona, USA, ahead of October’s World Championships in Mexico.
Redfern will have to miss out on two AS-Level examinations, which she will resit next year, as the camp clashes with her test dates.
