DROITWICH Spa Firsts are facing a nail-biting conclusion to the season albeit their fate lies in their own hands as they prepare to meet two of their fellow strugglers in the final weeks of the season.
Last weekend’s complete washout of matches in Division One of the Worcestershire County League means Droitwich remain fourth-from-bottom and 19 points clear of the relegation places as they go into their final two fixtures of the campaign.
On Saturday, Martyn Davies’ side head to third-from-bottom Pedmore which hasn’t been a particularly happy hunting ground for Droitwich in recent seasons.
However victory over their opponents, who are 14 points behind them in the table, will go a long way to securing their top flight status.
A defeat could turn the last match of the season against Belbroughton, who currently lie eight points ahead of bottom club Oldswinford & Stourbridge Social in the drop zone, into a relegation decider.
After their game at Avoncroft was abandoned last weekend without a ball being bowled, Droitwich Seconds will be hoping to get back to some action on Saturday when they entertain Wormelow at St Peter’s Fields.
