DROITWICH Spa Firsts got their pre-season off to the perfect start as they came out on the right side of a pulsating eight-goal thriller against Old Halesonians.
Spa started the brighter with Hannah Lee and Lucy Hine going close. Despite missing these opportunities, Louise Warrilow showed her prowess in front of goal as she nipped in to give the home side the early advantage.
The Ladies continued to press and looked dangerous on the break with Lorna Davidson launching an attack before Sam Wakelam fed Hine whose shot was cleared.
Following some sustained pressure from a short corner, Lee doubled Spa’s lead from close range.
Immediately Halesonians hit back to reduce their arrears before Hine restored the two-goal cushion going into the break.
Hine then grabbed her second goal of the game with a quick strike from a penalty corner before Lee added her second from close range to make it 5-1.
Halesonians then pulled two goals back before the end of the match to make the scoreline more respectable.
Spa start their Worcestershire League Division Two campaign on Saturday, September 24 when they travel to Kidderminster Firsts.
And the club is still on the look out for adults and juniors to play in the classic black and gold kit. Training is held on Wednesday nights between 6.30pm and 9pm behind Droitwich Leisure Centre with matches on a Saturday.
