DROITWICH Spa Ladies Firsts brought an end to their three-game losing streak in Worcestershire League Division Two with a 2-2 draw at Old Halesonians Firsts.
Spa had beaten Halesonians 5-3 in October last year and the visitors spurned a chance with just a minute of the clock when Hannah Lee screwed a shot wide with just the keeper to beat.
The visitors’ midfielder continued to work hard and create further chances as Gabriella Prendiville won a penalty corner which was missed by Lee.
However, it was a case of third time lucky for Lee as she opened the scoring for Spa with a neatly take effort midway through the first half.
But the two sides went into the break level as with virtually the last play of the game, Halesonians scored on the counter.
Spa’s efforts in the second period continued and they showed great desire to pressurise Halesonians higher up the pitch and a good move saw Jenny Gage’s cross just evade the onrushing Lee.
But Halesonians stepped up a gear and they eventually took a 2-1 lead.
However, Spa heads did not go down and Lee’s efforts were rewarded once again as she got the equaliser to salvage a well-deserved point.
Spa entertain league leaders Harborne Fourths on Saturday.
In Division Three, the Seconds dropped into the bottom two after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at unbeaten Bournville.
Bournville started the brighter and raced into a comfortable two-goal advantage before half-time.
But the hosts failed to add to their tally as a superb show from Spa keeper Naomi Mountford kept the score at 2-0.
Spa travel to third-from-bottom Worcester Fourths on Saturday (1.30pm start).
