DROITWICH Spa will not be rushed into any summer signings as they look to build on a record-breaking season.
The priority, say joint managers Wayne Oliver and Mark Owen, has been to ensure the team which claimed two trophies and finished third in Midland League Division Two sticks together.
Oliver stressed he is only look to the future, not the past, but the Saltmen will bide their time, if necessary, to get the right men to improve their squad.
“We are not panicking about any new signings,” said Oliver. “There’s always a lot of movement of players during the summer and then in pre-season when teams start to shape up and players might realise they are not going to figure.
“Then there’s more movement in the first month of the season when the same thing happens again.
“Retaining our current squad has been the key thing. There are always rumours at this stage of the season but none of our players have said they will be switching to other clubs.”
Spa will return to pre-season training on July 2, with the first friendly arranged for July 9 when they entertain Racing Club Warwick.
“What we did last year is done now – that’s for the history books,” added Oliver. “We have to move forward, we want to progress. It’s all about what we do next season now.”
