DSHC Ladies 3 Bromsgrove School 2
HOCKEY: DROITWICH Spa Ladies came from behind twice before scoring the winner late on against Bromsgrove School to preserve unbeaten start to Summer League
Droitwich looked to keep the winning habit going when they entertained Bromsgrove School in their second game of the Summer League campaign but they started slowly and went behind in the first few minutes of the match.
Droitwich regained their composure and equalised before half-time with a strike from Julie Hall leaving it all square between the two sides at the break.
In between times the ever dependable Kaylie Thomas kept Spa in the contest with a series of good saves.
Droitwich started the second half positively with good passing movements, but the opposition struck for a second time as Spa contrived to loose this match. However, Sophie Blackmore equalised for Spa with a neatly worked short corner routine as she deflected the ball home to leave the score intriguingly poised at 2-2. Once more Bromsgrove School were thwarted by stopper Kaylie Thomas who kept Bromsgrove attack at bay with some impressive saves during the second period
As the match clock wound down Spa’s intensity increased as they went looking for the winning goal.
And it was Lucy Hine who provided the winning goal as she picked the ball up in midfield skilfully defeating two defenders before reaching the circle and finishing with aplomb to give Droitwich the victory which was deserved for their second half endeavour.
Next week Spa take on arch rivals Pershore looking to get a win after defeat suffered during the Winter league.
