Hard-earned medal haul for Dolphins

PRACTICE makes perfect for Droitwich Droitwich as a host of their young swimmers collected hard-earned gold medals at this year’s Worcester County Development meet.

Twenty four swimmers took part in the all-day event at Wolverhampton’s Central Baths, achieving 68 personnel best times and 21 medals between them.

The most impressive performance came from Anja Kristy who scored a hat-trick of golds and a bronze. Alex Munro and Rowen Dennett both secured double gold, with the former also collecting silver.

Ashleigh Turner also finished top of the pile which added to his bronze success, while Elize Smith picked up two silver medals.

Harry Grech and Erin Huxley both had to settle for second place as well as Guy Duffy and Ed McCullough who also clinched a third place finish. Matthew Daniels and Joseph Mourino both won bronze.

Head coach Chris Hadley said the club’s swimmers’ success was down to hard work in training.

“In the 100m races some of the swimmers were achieving between eight and fourteen second pb’s which is a massive improvement for only nine months training within our new programme,” Hadley said.

“It just goes to show what can be achieved if you are willing to work hard.

“I would like to thank all those swimmers and parents who stayed behind at the end of the day to support the swimmers in the skins final, the support really helps a lot.”
