HIMBLETON suffered back-to-back defeats in Division Three of the Worcestershire County League following their harrowing 133-run loss to Netherton.
The Meadow Boys won the toss and elected to field but were left frustrated by Netherton’s opening batsman Russell Oseland who top scored with 83 to guide his side to 250-8 from 50 overs.
Troy Lee (40) and Paul Harris (52) added their share of the runs with Jem Rose (4-55) and Sean Jenkins (3-66) getting a pick of the wickets for the Meadow Boys.
In response, Himbleton faltered in their run chase as Jon Critchlow, Alistair Pretty, skipper Richard Pretty, Alex Grimsley and John Malings were bowled out for ducks.
Jenkins (38) top scored for the Meadow Boys with Ashton Greenwood (23) the only other player to reach double figures as the visitors were bowled out for a paltry 117 in the 34th over.
The defeat sees Himbleton drop to fourth-from-bottom in the table and they will hope to return to winning ways tomorrow as they entertain relegation-threatened Malvern.
Himbleton’s Seconds slipped up in their promotion hunt from Division Four as they succumbed to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Stourport-on-Severn.
Stourport won the toss and elected to field, bowling the Meadow Boys all out for 186 with Michael Keel (50) top scoring on a difficult afternoon for the home side.
Greg Roberts (4-38) and George Teal (3-33) starred with the ball for Stourport who took 39 overs to reach a score of 187-2 in their response.
Despite Stourport sitting on 46-2 following the early dismissals of Alan Lockwood (16) and Dave Cook (6), opening batsman Neil Waldron (70 no) put on a strong partnership with Peter Harrison (68 no) to give the visitors all 20 points.
